When?

If you’re under the age of 16 and you run away from home, the law states that you can be returned home as you will be deemed as being “at risk”. If this is not possible then the social work are responsible for you.

Problems at home?

If the reason you’re leaving home is problems at home you should look at other things you can do to fix these problems so you don’t have to leave. There are people such as youth workers who can help you if you’re not getting on with your parents, step parents or any other relatives.

Leaving home should be the last option and only considered when you have done everything you can to try and resolve the situation. This is a common situation amongst families and leaving home won’t make things any better and possibly could make them worse.

Talking

It may be difficult but try to talk to someone you trust like a friend, relative, youth worker or teacher. They may be able to give you advice and information on how to improve your situation.
